Without knowing the model of printer you are using, I would suggest trying to determine if the printer has an internal print server add-on you can buy. In the world of HP printers, these are usually branded as JetDirect print servers. They do cost more, but in my experience these work the best and have the fastest throughput. I haven't found the print servers you mention to be difficult to set up; the problem with them is they sometimes lock up and they may limit print speed on larger print jobs.

This is taken from the Microsoft website.

Firewall Client for ISA Server can be optionally installed on client computers protected by Microsoft ISA Server. Firewall Client for ISA Server provides enhanced security, application support, and access control for client computers. It provides authentication for Winsock applications that use TCP and UDP, supports complex secondary protocols, and supplies user and application information to the ISA Server logs.

When a client computer running Firewall Client for ISA Server makes a request, the destination is evaluated by the Firewall Client software, and external requests are directed to the ISA Server computer for handling. No specific routing infrastructure is required. Firewall Client sends user information transparently with each request, enabling you to create a firewall policy on the ISA Server computer with rules that use the authentication credentials presented by the client. ISA Server allows you to configure automatic discovery for Firewall client computers, using a WPAD entry in DNS or DHCP to obtain correct Web proxy settings for clients, depending on their location.

If you want to install as workgroup, you can do it wih xp os. If you want to create domain you must need a windows server OS like MS windows 2000/2003 server.
Configure the IP settings for the machines & make it as work group / client for domain.

The sequence you wish to use is odd to say the least and of no real value.

The server provides DNS and DHCP to the LAN. Puttiing a router behind the server forces the LAN onto a different subnet for no reason. It makes something that is fairly easy unnecessarily complicated.

If you wish to proceed, you will have to teach the router the proper routing table for your subnets and make sure the router subnet differs from server subnet and then activate DHCP on router and have all LAN devices use router for DHCP and DNS. WAN side of router defers these tasks to server.

If you want to make the server a web server and protect the LAN devices, I recommend a router with a DMZ port.

you can use a server mobo for a desktop computer. Contrary to what the first poster said, It will not be a slow computer. You just need to make sure that your OS will recognize all the ram that you are adding. For instance Vista 32 bit will only recognize 4 gigabytes of ram if you step up to the 64 bit it will then recognize 128GB: for the Ultimate, Enterprise, and Business SKUs
    16GB: Home Premium
    8GB: Home Basic
I am not positive on the last question but I think the max amount of processor's that it will support is eight.

I am unsure what the other server is going to be used for. Is one a http web server and the new one a ftp server?
Anyway, it is simple to know what the IP address is, you will make it yourself. Set up that new server so that it has a static IP address, so every time it starts up, you know the IP address and you can then forward any ports to it depending on what you are running.

    If you are running a…
    http server: port 80.
    https server: port 443.
    ftp server: port 21

Those are the proper ports used for each of those protocols.

    Three ways

    1. actaully use the command line option to switch servers….
    2. just change the DNS record….
    3. Open up the console and move the client to the new server group…

You might find one, but I haven't seen much rp on rs. It would most likely be hidden in a guild or something like that…you can check on the rs forums.
